By manipulating fascia that surrounds tissue, and applying muscle specific strokes, structural integration massage opens the gate to amazing transformations not only in the body but in life. Structural integration massage facilitates a positive relationship between a client’s body and gravity by lengthening shortened tissue and “fleshing,” a concept used to essentially put tissue back to where it needs to be. This work can have profound results! Having short, stiff muscles leads to poor posture that seems to have a negative ripple effect on our health and there is only so much a person can do to avoid this on their own. However, avoiding such is not impossible. Structural integration is a great tool to incorporate into nearly anyone’s life for it aids the body in maintaining homeostasis and optimal function by essentially realigning the body in such a way that joints are “stacked” or aligned into proper posture. Ease of movement, pain relief, increased range of motion (flexibility or ability to rotate and move) and overall improvement of soft tissue health are results of receiving regular structural integration massage therapy. Achieving goals, such as proper posture throughout the entire body, through use of this type massage therapy is a process. As your licensed massage therapist, I will create a step by step plan in order for you to reap all the benefits structural integration has to offer. We will begin with a visual assessment that will help me in creating a protocol tailored to you. After each session I will provide tips and self-care (such as stretches) for you to do in between massage therapy sessions.
